Grove never touches your bank account or card numbers. Plaid, the same secure platform Venmo, Robinhood, and Mint use, connects to your bank. Plaid sends Grove anonymized, encrypted transaction data, and we strip out everything we don't need.

When your round-ups hit the $5 threshold, Stripe processes an ACH transfer directly from your bank to your reforestation project. Grove doesn't see your details. From a compliance perspective, our incentive is to store as little data as possible, and we've leaned as far in that direction as we can.

Three steps:

1. Plaid watches your linked card for transactions and calculates the round-up amount.
2. When your accumulated round-ups reach $5, Stripe pulls that exact amount from your account via ACH.
3. That $5 is transferred directly to the reforestation project you chose.

Every tree is tracked over years, not just the planting day. Each of our reforestation partners uses:

• Geo-spatial imaging: satellite and drone photography of the planting sites
• Bio-acoustic monitoring: recordings of birdsong, insect calls, and biodiversity returning as the forest matures
• On-the-ground site visits: local teams confirming survival and growth

You see all of this in your Grove app. Your trees aren't a one-time line item; they're a portfolio you can watch grow.

Carbon credits are an accounting tool. They let you claim a footprint offset on paper, but the actual environmental work happens far from your visibility. Direct donations work, but they require you to remember to give, choose a project, and send a payment.

Grove makes climate action automatic and visible. You don't think about it, but you see your forest grow every time you open the app. It's the difference between a once-a-year tax-deductible check and a habit you can't help but build.

No. Grove is a for-profit company, not a registered 501(c)(3). Your round-ups fund reforestation projects directly, but they're not deductible charitable contributions.

We chose the for-profit structure deliberately. It lets us move faster, build better tech, and pay the reforestation partners properly.

There is no cost to download Grove and you have complete flexibility in managing your tree planting. On average a Grove user who has activated round-ups will contribute anywhere between $10 and $20 per month via their round-ups, depending on their spending habits. Direct recurring subscriptions allow you to choose whatever consistent amount works for you if having direct control over funding amounts fits your budgeting and priorities better.

• Pause stops round-ups immediately but keeps your account and history.
• Cancel closes the account entirely. Any accumulated balance under $5 is forfeited when you cancel.

10,000+ U.S. banks and card issuers through Plaid, including every major bank: Chase, Bank of America, Citi, Wells Fargo, Capital One, USAA, Vanguard, and more. If your bank lets you sign in online, Grove almost certainly works with it.
